The TR-004 device can be used as a DAS (Direct Attached Storage), allowing you to simply connect it via USB to a PC or Mac. The TR-004 expansion device is equipped with four 3.5-inch SATA 3.5" / 2.5" drive bays or 2.5" SSDs, enabling multiple RAID configuration options. In one type of RAID, only one type of media can be used. Using the DIP switch located on the back of the unit, you can select modes such as Individual, JBOD, RAID 0, RAID 1/10, or RAID 5. Flexible Configuration and Management Compared to other types of RAID expansion devices, the TR-004 offers greater flexibility and manageability through software configuration. Users have access to RAID configuration, disk status monitoring using storage management utilities, and snapshots on QNAP NAS. Similar functionality is also available to users with a computer via the QNAP External RAID Manager utility. However, it is important to remember that when connecting the TR-004 device to QNAP NAS, it can operate either in expansion device mode or external storage mode.
